รถเครนจะมีอยู่ด้วยกัน 5 ประเภท ได้แก่

รถเครน 4 ล้อ (Rough terrain cranes) จะมีลักษณะคล้ายกับรถเครนแบบรถเครนบรรทุก (Truck Crane) แต่จะมีล้อเพียง 4 ล้อ(ใหญ่) เท่านั้น ลำตัวของรถเครน 4 ล้อ จะสั้นกว่ารถเครนบรรทุกมาก
2.4 เครนติดรถบรรทุก
เครนติดรถบรรทุก (Truck Loader Crane หรือ cargo crane)รถเครนประเภทนี้เหมาะสำหรับการขนส่ง และบรรทุกสินค้าเท่านั้น สามารถยกของจากท้ายรถบรรทุกลงไปจากรถ หรือยกขึ้นมาที่ท้ายรถได้ ส่วนของระยะทางนั้น สามารถขนส่งในระยะทางไกลๆ ได้ครับ ขนส่งได้รวดเร็ว ด้วยขนาดเครนติดรถบรรทุกไม่ได้มีขนาดใหญ่มาก สามารถเดินทางได้สะดวกครับ
2.5 รถเครนแบบ All Terrain Cranes
รถเครนแบบ ( All Terrain Cranes ) จะเป็นรถเครนที่มีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในบรรดารถเครนสามารถทำงานได้หลายรูปแบบ แถมมีประสิทธิภาพมากกว่า รถเครนประเภทอื่นๆ อีกครับ แม้จะเป็นงานแบบไหนก็สามารถทำได้แน่นอนครับ พื้นที่จะขรุขระ สมบุกสมบัน มีล้อมากกว่า และขับเคลื่อนทุกล้อ เพราะรถคันใหญ่จึงมีปัญหาเรื่องเลี้ยวมุมแคบยาก ระยะการเดินทางได้ไกลไม่มีข้อจำกัดครับ
